Offered for your consideration is my 1992 Subaru SVX Sport LS-L.
This car is in beautiful condition and appears as you would expect a well cared for late model car with only 49,000 miles to look. Aside from several tiny paint nicks and a small ding in the black roof, the paint is spectacular. I have recently purchased this vehicle from her original 87 year old owner for my son to commute to college with. However, this car is too nice and too rare in this condition with this low mileage for him to use as a daily driver. She has been garage kept always and this shows.
The rubber weatherstrip is all soft and supple. Glass has no damage. The original owner had sensitive eyes and received permission from the State of New Hampshire to have tinting installed on the windows. This remains and is in excellent condition. Everything works on the car including cold Air Conditioning (upgraded to R-134A), cruise control, power sunroof, power locks, power driver’s seat, power antenna, lights, signals, etc. The engine bay is clean and all appears as showroom original. I have included undercarriage photos to show that there is absolutely no rust on the car. I have also included photos of the original Subaru muffler and exhaust system still installed and in excellent condition.
This SVX starts, runs, drives, shifts, steers, and stops perfectly with no issues. It is currently wearing newer wheels and tires from a 2015 WRX in perfect condition, with less than 5,000 miles on all season radials. The original wheels and tires will also convey with the car upon sale and are in excellent condition with no curb rash and great tire tread. The interior of this vehicle appears as new. There are no signs of wear or leather cracking. Not even on the driver’s seat bolster. The Alcantara Suede dash and door handles are perfect. They were actually covered with loose pieces of cloth to keep them clean when we purchased the car. Still visible on the drivers side door handle in two of the photos.
The dash is perfect, as is the gauge cluster. The stereo is concealed behind an opening panel in the wood grained dash and includes a cd player. Stereo sounds great. No signs of wear or fading anywhere on the dash. All carpeting appears as new.
I happened upon this car when it was parked roadside at a farm with a for sale sign on it. I knew what it was but didn’t know anything about it until after I purchased and started reading. The SVX was actually ahead of it’s time technologically and was built true to it’s original concept car design at great expense to appear to have a full glass roof. It was built to compete against the Nissan 300ZX and the Toyota Supra, but it was only built with an automatic transmission, was not as fast and agile, and was priced in the BMW range, way above where it needed to be. Therefore, sales were weak and production was low. However, reviews show that the SVX was an incredible grand touring car. She sits surprisingly low to the ground and is quite sporty. It has been nicknamed the “Forgotten Subaru” which has only recently become sought after by this generation of classic car collectors.
The weak link is reported to be the automatic transmission. I believe mine still has its original transmission installed. It drives and shifts flawlessly.
